Turning a year older

I've been out of action from training. and for a good reason : my birthday !

I have to say, i had a good time this birthday.
Wed night : A very awesome love-hating group that decided that we should celebrate my birthday at the stroke of midnight at Butter Factory. That was peppered with many drinks, and of cos celebrity sightings.

Thursday : I went for stretch class, fell asleep there. No surprise to that! Was so tired from wednesday night. And went for dinner with family.

Friday night : Had drinks with friends and besties. That was crazy. I think my body digest alcohol & fun too fast.

Saturday : shopped for costumes, had dinner, and played cards

Sunday : lazed around and went for a movie

Monday : met with old friends... and played old-skool games.

All in all. I am loving it!
Perhaps i guess i have to admit i am getting older. Gifts are no longer as neccessary than before. Yes, it's a nice-to-have. Receiving text messages from a friend that i thought i lost to the wind and time warms my heart. And that feeling of being told i am missed leaves me teary. But being able to spend time with friends, even at a stretch of 10 to 11 hours, that's something to go down the memory lane with. Call me sappy & old. But i guess, that's what happen with aging.

I usually don't really like celebrating my birthday on 17th, due to the painful loss of the man i loved the most my entire life : my dad... on 18th September 1985. Not a day goes by, without the thought of him. More importantly, Thank You for making me who i am today. Be it for the better or for the worse, i am sure you are proud of every lil achievement i have made along the way.

Life goes on.
I love my family & friends.
More dinners on the way !

at the end of the day...

Family...
The people who put up with whatever shytt you give.
The people who standby you.
The people who support you at your training.
The people who always never fails to encourage you
and of cos, believe you can do it.
The people who love you.
Tends to be the ones you do not spend enough time with,
largely due to swim.bike.run, training ... or races.

To my family.
HELLO
and here's to more 8 dishes within the few of us.

Happy Birthday Chingster

Exactly __ number of years ago, my mom gave me the best toy on earth. She has brought me joy, and sorrow, fears, and pain, despair and disappointment, hope and faith, happiness and craziness, bitterness and sometimes i feel like wringing her neck. All the emotions one can possibly think of... rolled into one size : sasquatch!
And she is my friend, my partner in crime, my sidekick.
Most importantly, she is my sister.

Happy Birthday Chingster.
Hope you had fun at your 1st McDonald's birthday party.

All things vintage and beautiful

My mom managed to find my late dad's watch. And it's still a gorgeous timepiece: Omega Seamaster DeVille, circa late 1960s. Even till now, i still think it looks good.

But now at least i hold a piece of my father with me...

Tell everyone you love... that you care & love them..

A recent incident taught me to cherish and love the ones i love and care for even more. To not put off showing care and concern for that someone. To tell that someone they made a difference, an impact, and are significant in your lives. There'll be no regret then, just tears of happiness that you have been a part of them, and they are a part of you.
....before they slip away....

or have this tinge of regret that you did not get something done.

funny cousins...

Over dinner on Sunday, i got to catch up with my cousins. Cousins can be a funny thing, especially if you are barely a few years apart from each other. Others may have brothers and sisters, i have my cousins who are like my brothers and sisters. Growing up together throws away whatever manners and courtesy out of the window, and release all inhibitions, throw in more wit and humor into the conversation. Conversations included dream cars which garner a reply of Ody, which leaves me wondering WTF?, and another "how to grow your thick waist?", with a reply of "HBO and a pint of haagen daaz and ben & jerry's every night...".

Kids from funny cousins... result in funny cute lil human beings who loves taking pictures and of cos, mimicking his favorite F1 move : shaking the champagne bottle upon taking pole position.

I have only one tiny problem. Errm... how do you tell a 3 year old to unzoom, cos he is taking pictures that's too in our face?

a 11 year old's birthday

It's Erik's nephew's birthday. We got him a game, and the boy's mother decided to get him a Wii as a surprise birthday gift. Kids, regardless of how smart they are, are still kids. I made a call to the birthday boy, trying to outsmart him.

An excerpt from our conversation :
me : eh what do u buy for someone your age... like a game from wii?
boy : o... eh you wanna buy me a gift, just say so?
me : you can wait long long... so what game? hurry up.. and tell me. and i'll get you a book for your birthday, not games.
boy : can i have comic book then? ...* at this point, he goes way off topic to stocks*

Don't ask me why he asked about stocks or stock market. Apparently, his grandmother got him a stock as birthday gift. What does a 11 year old do with a stock? Beats me.

I got to his place, to pick him up for birthday and got talking to him... this time, face to face.

Our conversation :
boy : you know, i like this. the world revolves around me today. everything is about me
me : and why?
boy : it's special. It's my birthday.
me : o... so how old are you?
boy : 11.
me : ok.

At this point, i think the boy is at a loss. I haven't responded much to his birthday. His brother kept teasing him with a "i got a secret but i can't share with you...", adding much to our laughter.
Whatever the case is, he was jumping in joy by the end of the night.
Cos he got Wii ... and SPORE for PC.

Kids... sigh... kids

Turning 28...

Yes i finally turn 28. I know, it's hard to believe. Just yesterday i turned 15 or 18. And i am now 28. How do i feel? I think with age, priorities changes, as with time. So this year, i had a lot more dinners, than drinks.

Frankly, as i grew older, i came to appreciate my family & friends a lot more. Dinners, a drink or two, and plenty of laughter. The family started celebrating from day one after 70.3. It's sheer coincidence that it was my chinese birthday too. I got my Hello Kitty cake... and got to see Hello Kitty Lanterns. Rest of the celebrations include having lunch or dinner with my closest training mates..., dinner with my fave girlfriends, dinner with Angie & Dave (my two fave bi**hes), dinner with my fave boys... It's at dinners that everyone gets to sit together and share their joy over dinner & beer. It's also them who get to me to scream, cry, and of cos laugh and smile.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank You.
To the ones who planned out my very big birthday gift, no words could describe the joy, perhaps just pictures of me crying, and everyone laughing about it.

cutest thing ever...

My lil nephew is a cutie. His younger brother was having his baby shower on Saturday evening (1 month old)... but my attention is on this lil' one. He's so cute. Softspoken, quarter Jap, and super uber cute.

The weekend was spent with family & friends. And i would say it again, well worth it! Despite the fact i had little to no sleep...

kids... say the darndest thing

10th June 07 : Bryan

He's 7, he's uber cute... his name is Bryan.
His replies are cute, varies from 可以 to 不可以.

His brother is even cuter. His name is Troy. And he's 10.
His questions are cute, it's a point-black "i need cousins".
I think the government's propaganda for people to have kids is stretching its resources & forces out to lil' kids to spread the word.

Kids say the darndest things...
i betcha...

Chinese New Year

I guess after staying overseas for a good number of years, i'm appreciative of Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year, as some might call it. It's fun, and brings back memories of kids running about. No, my maternal instinct ain't calling yet. I still hear that Miu Miu bag beckoning me, instead of that call to motherhood.

I like hanging around my family a whole lot. Absolute joy. Especially more so since we seldom meet up. It's becoming quite a tradition for some of the younger ones (i'm still young...) to head to a club to have a drink. And of cos quite a tradition to having haul the oldest one (my other cousin) home.

It's a time that i put on weight. Or am i just bloated due to ...? Or am i seriously getting fat? Someone once said Scales don't lie, but i like to argue that muscles do have weight too. :P But i think i did have a lil' more fat around me. I think by the end of these 15 days, i'll be hitting the treadmill, doing laps in the pool, and try to do some weights.

Gong Hey Fatt Choy, Happy New Year.
And i heard Monkeys have all the luck this year... you think so?
